Medical Assistant Degree Program

Our Medical Assistant Associate's Degree program is hands-on and comprehensive, with medical assistant training in skills that employers want most. Our curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation for medical assistant jobs, teaching you lab and clinical techniques including:

  • Performing EKG, CPR, venipuncture, Universal Standard Precautions and aseptic techniques
  • Obtaining vital signs and taking medical histories
  • Preparing patients for exams and performing routine laboratory procedures.
  • The Medical Assistant training program at Virginia College in will also teach you a variety of administrative skills, such as scheduling appointments, medical record keeping, and insurance procedures.

  • Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools Diplomas (D) and Advanced Diplomas (AdvD) are required by SC, GA & OK to be listed as Certificates (C). Cosmetology is a Certificate (C) in NC, but not all Diplomas (D) will be.
  • Associate of Science degrees (AS) are required by NC, SC, TN & VA to be listed as Associated of Applied Science degrees (AAS).
    Associate of Applied Science degrees (AAS) are required by LA & VA to be listed as Associate in Occupational Studies degrees (AOS).
  • Bachelor of Science degrees (BS) are required by TN to be listed as Bachelor of Applied Science degrees (BAS).
