  • Medical Assistant - Diploma

    The Medical Assisting diploma program is designed to prepare students for positions as entry-level medical assistants in a physician’s office, or other medical facilities. This program focuses on providing instruction, through a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences, in the skills necessary to assist physicians in both the administrative and clinical duties of a medical facility. The program requires a minimum of 51 credit hours to be completed in approximately 10 months.

  • Surgical Technician - A.A.S.

    Do you have what it takes to work in a pressure-filled environment that requires close attention to even the smallest details? Take the first step with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Southern Technical College’s Surgical Technician program. This program is designed to prepare students to work as a surgical technician in a lifesaving team in a fast-paced, challenging setting, in several healthcare facilities including hospitals, medical centers and public or private surgical centers. Finish in as fast as 24 months, and be ready to take the certification exam in surgical technology given by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

    At Southern Technical College, our Associate’s Degree in Nursing program can be completed in less than two years and is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. In the Nursing degree program, you will receive specialized training in critical care. Upon graduation, you’ll be eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse. After passing the exam, you can seek employment in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, physician’s offices, and more.

If this sounds like you, our Medical Assisting Associate’s degree program is a great way to get started in the healthcare field.

    This Medical Assisting program is designed to expose you to both the administrative and clinical aspects of a healthcare environment, and includes courses in medical theory and terminology, clinical procedures, medical billing, and anatomy and physiology. Medical Assistants work closely with doctors and are often the main point of contact with a patient. Medical Assistants play an important role in a well-managed medical office and have a variety of responsibilities.

  • Veterinary Assisting - Diploma

    The diploma program in Veterinary Assisting is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as an assistant to a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician. The program will provide students with a foundation of knowledge in ethics and law, animal anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and animal care activities. Through hands-on learning, students will learn to keep medical and imaging records, offer client education, assist with nursing duties, prepare for surgeries, and assist in a routine exam. This program includes a clinical externship experience.

    Perform a diverse variety of tasks in customer/client service and education; front desk and clerical responsibilities; preparation of exam rooms; and assisting in areas of filling scripts, setting up lab work, and assisting with nursing and animal care. Veterinary assistants work under the supervision of veterinarians and veterinary technicians, through the establishment of standard levels of knowledge, practical experience, and skills.
