The 9-month Medical Assisting Program at Delta Tech provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistant training provides students the skills needed to perform in either a clinical or office capacity.
The graduate will be able to assist in EKG, x-ray procedures, first aid and phlebotomy. Delta Tech’s medical assistant program also gives students hands-on training to perform clinical procedures, prep a patient for physical exams and assist the physician with other exams. The medical assistant may also help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can sterilize and care for instruments.
In some cases, the medical assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures including digital record keeping, inputting data, billing, coding, scheduling, transcribing and handling insurance claims.
The medical assistant possesses a thorough understanding of health-related ethics and other business principles affecting the doctor’s relationship with the patient. For medical assistant certification, Delta Tech prepares students to take the Nation Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Medical Assistant (NCMA) Certification Exam at the end of the externship.
