About Delta Technical College

Delta Technical College is a year-round school providing vocational training in mechanical trades and allied health career fields where job growth is expected.

Midwest Technical Institute, Delta Tech’s sister school, was founded in 1995 in Lincoln, Illinois. Since opening its doors as Delta Technical College in 2004, Delta Tech has achieved many milestones, including receiving national accreditation for its course offerings, and expanding our programs and courses beyond the original welding program.

Delta Tech has always taken great pride in touching the lives of students by giving them the hands-on workforce training they need to be successful. After over twenty years and thousands of students, that goal has remained the same.

Our mission is to offer workforce training that will provide graduates with the skills necessary to gain entry-level employment in their chosen field.

Program Duration

At Delta Tech, we understand the importance of completing training programs and courses in a timely manner. We offer a variety of accelerated programs in the allied health and mechanical trades fields, where you’ll have the opportunity to complete most programs and courses in less than one year.

Your life is busy and your time is valuable. We understand that. Most programs and courses at Delta Tech offer a variety of class times (including daytime and evenings), so you can learn when it is convenient for you.

Professionalism with a “Family” Feel

The staff at Delta Tech is full of bright and caring professionals, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in their fields. Our friendly and helpful Admissions and Financial Aid Teams are here to guide you through the entire process, from signing up for classes to helping you find the financing options that work best for you.

Medical Coding Specialist

The Medical Coding Specialist Program provides students the skills and knowledge required for entry-level positions in the medical coding field. Medical coders typically work in medical offices, clinics, hospitals and insurance companies as a part of the healthcare team.

Delta Tech’s medical coding training instructs students in the analysis of medical records (charts) and the assignment of codes. “Coding” refers to transforming the written or verbal description of diseases, injuries and procedures into numerical designations. Medical coders index diagnoses and procedures to provide information for reimbursement purposes.

Medical coding classes also include anatomy and medical terminology. Students will learn about diseases that affect the human body, etiology, pathology, symptoms, signs, diagnostics and treatment in order to properly code medical records. Delta Tech’s medical coding program gives students the training needed to become familiar with the content of a medical record. Students will learn to locate the necessary information to support or provide specificity for accurate coding.

For medical coding certification, students can sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Exam that is administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) upon graduation from the Medical Coding Specialist Program.

Medical Assisting

The Medical Assisting Program at Delta Tech provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistant training provides students the skills needed to perform in either a clinical or office capacity.

The graduate will be able to assist in EKG, x-ray procedures, first aid and phlebotomy. Delta Tech’s medical assistant program also gives students hands-on training to perform clinical procedures, prep a patient for physical exams and assist the physician with other exams. The medical assistant may also help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can sterilize and care for instruments.

In some cases, the medical assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures including digital record keeping, inputting data, billing, coding, scheduling, transcribing and handling insurance claims.

The medical assistant possesses a thorough understanding of health-related ethics and other business principles affecting the doctor’s relationship with the patient. For medical assistant certification, Delta Tech prepares students to take the Nation Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Medical Assistant (NCMA) Certification Exam at the end of the externship.

Delta Technical College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools & Colleges (ACCSC). For 45 years, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) has been at the forefront of establishing and advancing quality education at post-secondary schools and colleges.
