Available Programs

  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist

The Certified Billing & Coding Specialist certification programs will teach you the skills needed to gather and review crucial patient information, verify patient information and documentation, audit billing, assign codes to procedures and diagnoses, submit reimbursement claims to insurers, and optimize healthcare providers’ maximum payment.

When you complete our program, you will be able to identify different insurance carriers and distinguish between their coverage policies. The programs will teach you the process of assigning diagnostic and procedure codes and how to submit 'clean' claims for reimbursement. Additionally, you will learn how to audit medical billing and prevent fraud and abuse. Lastly, the program provides training on how to work with healthcare providers to obtain the maximum reimbursement for medical procedures performed.

  • Certified Medical Assistant

Clinical Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied healthcare professionals who may administer medications, assist with minor procedures, record vital signs, take medical histories, prepare patients and rooms for examinations, handle laboratory specimens, provide patient education, and much more. Because of the specialized skill set and knowledge that is held by these professionals, they find themselves working in clinics, physicians’ offices, hospitals, outpatient facilities, and specialists’ offices across the country. MedCerts offers career services and job placement assistance upon graduation.

MedCerts' medical assistant online program covers a wide range of skills and objectives that expand beyond the primary functions of a medical assistant. The program was developed by industry experts and through technology, provides students with a one-of-a-kind learning experience. Throughout the program, you will be able to interact with the curriculum through 3D virtual office scenarios, clinical skill simulations, animations, assessment gamification, and activities. Students have the option to complete a 160-hour clinical externship at a local medical facility or clinic.

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician

With a projected growth of over 24 percent in the next 10 years, Certified Phlebotomy Technicians are in high demand and offer a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in the medical field. Responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients for testing, Phlebotomists must have excellent interpersonal skills. Other responsibilities include assembling and maintaining equipment, including containers and needles, data entry and verifying patient information, which requires organization and cleanliness. Phlebotomists can work in hospitals, blood donation centers, nursing homes, doctor’s offices, and other healthcare facilities.

While this may seem like a unique certification to get online, MedCerts combines 12 elements of eLearning – including virtualized environments, recorded video lectures and a final exam simulating a phlebotomy practice test to create an immersive education experience. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in an externship to fully prepare for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam sponsored by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
