Become a licensed medical social worker in Mississippi
Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
You must graduate from an accredited bachelor's of social work program.
Apply for your LSW, pay the processing fee, and include the required documentation, background check and fingerprints. Take the ASWB bachelor's exam. Answer 96-105 of the 170 questions correctly to pass. Get your license from the Board. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
You must have your MSW or doctorate from an accredited program.
Apply for your LMSW, pay the processing fee, and include the required documentation, background check and fingerprints. Take the ASWB intermediate level exam. Answer 96-105 of the 170 questions correctly to pass. Get your license from the Board. Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW)
LCSW is the only designation allowing social workers to practice independently. You must first have your MSW or doctorate from an accredited program and be license as an LMSW.
You must have 2 years/1,000 hours of work experience. Every 6 months, you are required to submit a signed work verification form to the Board. Apply for your LCSW, pay the processing fee, and include the required documentation, background check and fingerprints. Take the ASWB clinical or advanced generalist level exam. Answer 96-105 of the 170 questions correctly to pass. Get your license from the Board Your license must be renewed every 2 years.
You must complete 40 hours of continuing education within the renewal period.
