With an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology from The College of Health Care Professions, you will be prepared for entry-level employment as a surgical technologist. On the surface, surgical technologists assist surgeons in surgery, but really they do much more. Surgical technology encompasses roles and responsibilities in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of the surgical patient. In the preoperative phase, responsibilities range from preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring surgical equipment is functioning, and preparing sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique. As we enter the intraoperative phase, responsibilities shift to anticipating the needs of the surgical team, passing instruments and supplies using aseptic technique, and handling specimens. The postoperative phase shifts to include assisting in applying dressings to closed wounds, assisting with patient transfer, cleaning the operating room, and/or disinfecting and preparing instruments for sterilization.
CHCP’s accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Associate of Applied Science Degree will prepare you for an exciting career as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (also known as an Ultrasound Technologist) uses a transducer to emit sound waves across specific parts of the body. These sound waves echo and reflect back to the transducer to produce images (also known as sonograms) of the body’s interior. Sonograms are used to highlight internal issues that would not be seen otherwise. In order to be a successful sonographer you must be able to properly operate the ultrasound technology, display compassionate patient care, and embody professionalism at all times. After you complete your sonography training with The College of Health Care Professions, you’ll be prepared with the necessary knowledge and skills to get an entry-level job as an ultrasound sonographer.
Our Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist with Medical Assisting Skills program prepares you for a career as a limited medical radiologic technologist. As an LMRT (also known as a limited X-ray technologist), you will be responsible for performing limited-scope X-rays on the chest, extremities, skull, facial bones, and vertebral column. X-rays (also known as radiographs) are a form of radiation that can penetrate the body, creating images of the body’s interior.
An LMRT is responsible for communicating with patients about the procedures, administering the X-rays, and producing an image that is diagnostically acceptable. Once the images are analyzed, they are sent to other medical personnel for diagnosis. After you finish your Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist with Medical Assistant Skills program at the College of Health Care Professions, you will be well-equipped to take the state licensing exam and begin your new career as a Limited Medical X-ray Technologist.
The Physical Therapy Technician Certificate Program from The College of Health Care Professions is the first step to becoming a certified physical therapy technician. A physical therapy technician (also known as a rehabilitation therapy technician or physical therapy aide) is a vital part of any physical therapy clinic. PT technicians work under the supervision of physical therapists to help patients regain movement and manage pain as they recover from injury. Technicians are also in charge of cleaning equipment, washing linens, and performing clerical tasks like scheduling patients. With an education from The College of Health Care Professions, you will be prepared to enter the workforce as an entry-level physical therapy technician.
