State of Arizona, Medical Assisting Certification Requirements
You must complete a medical assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or you went through a program from a medical doctor with equal or great requirements of the accrediting bureau's.
There are no certification or licensing requirements in Arizona.
To be eligible for your Registered Medical Assisting or Certified Medical Assistant designations, you must:
Pass an accredited medical assisting program if you're becoming certified through the AAMA. Or, meet the eligibility standards to be certified through the AMT. Fill out the online application and mail it in along with the required fee. Once your application has been processes, schedule to take the exam. You must pass the exam to become certified. To keep your certification current, you must:
Pay the annual renewal fee. AMT: Every 3 years, complete the continuing education credits.AAMA: Get re-certified every 60 months through CEUs, or take the recertification exam.
