Midwest Technical Institute

Midwest Technical Institute - Moline, IL

Midwest Technical Institute is a year-round school providing vocational training in mechanical trades and allied health career fields where job growth is expected.

MTI was founded in 1995 in Lincoln, Illinois. Since opening its doors, MTI has achieved many milestones, including receiving national accreditation for its course offerings, and expanding our programs and courses beyond the original welding program.

MTI has always taken great pride in touching the lives of students by giving them the hands-on workforce training they need to be successful. After over twenty years and thousands of students, that goal has remained the same.

Our mission is to offer workforce training that will provide graduates with the skills necessary to gain entry-level employment in their chosen field.

Program Duration

At MTI, we understand the importance of completing training programs and courses in a timely manner. We offer a variety of accelerated programs in the allied health and mechanical trades fields, where you’ll have the opportunity to complete most programs and courses in less than one year.

Your life is busy and your time is valuable. We understand that. Most programs and courses at MTI offer a variety of class times (including daytime and evenings), so you can learn when it is convenient for you.

Professionalism with a “Family” Feel

The staff at MTI is full of bright and caring professionals, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in their fields. Our friendly and helpful Admissions and Financial Aid Teams are here to guide you through the entire process, from signing up for classes to helping you find the financing options that work best for you.

Medical Assisting

The Medical Assisting Program provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and administrative tasks. Midwest Technical Institute’s medical assistant training provides the skills required to perform in either a clinical or office capacity. The graduate will be able to assist in EKG, x-ray procedures, first aid and phlebotomy, perform clinical procedures, prepare a patient for physical exams and assist the physician with other exams. The medical assistant may also help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can sterilize and care for instruments.

In some venues, the medical assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures including electronic record keeping, keyboarding, billing, coding, scheduling, transcription and insurance claims. The medical assistant possesses a thorough understanding of health-related ethics and other business principles that bear on the practitioner’s relationship with the patient. To obtain their medical assistant certification, students will be scheduled to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) National Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification Exam.

*Program availability varies by campus and financial aid opportunities may be available for qualifying students.

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician Program at Midwest Technical Institute is designed to prepare students to enter the pharmacy field in an entry-level position working in hospitals, community (retail) pharmacies, clinics or non-traditional settings.

Pharmacy technician training includes classroom instruction and practical lab work using hands-on training to provide students the skills needed to become a qualified and competitive pharmacy technician. This program will prepare students to sit for the pharmacy technician certification exam.
