  • Medical Office Administration

    Are you interested in a career in healthcare? Do you enjoy managing others? If so, medical administration may be perfect for you! As a medical administration professional, you’ll benefit from good work hours, advancement opportunities, and financial security.

    An Associate of Science in Medical Administration from Meridian College prepares you for the daily duties of managing a healthcare organization.

    The program teaches you to work closely with doctors and other support personnel as well as how to use medical terminology, medical office procedures, and insurance coding.

    Your medical administration training will include:

    • Managing personnel
    • Monitoring medical office finances
    • Coordinating facility operations
    • Assisting with patient admissions

  • Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

    If you’re interested in numbers and organization, then a career in medical billing and coding is perfect for you! Medical billing and coding professionals are responsible for keeping the records, charts, and bills of a medical office in order. Use your organizational and mathematical skills every day to insure healthcare facilities run smoothly. As a medical billing and coding professional, you’ll benefit from regular daytime hours, paid time off, job security, and more.

    At Meridian, you’ll learn the fundamentals of medical office protocol that will ensure you will have the tools to succeed in the industry.

    Your training will include:

    • Billing basics
    • ICD-10 coding
    • CPT/HCPCS coding
    • Advanced clinical coding
    • Inpatient coding
    • Coding from operative reports
    • Health information technology

    In addition to your classroom experiences, you will complete an externship for on-the-job training, giving you further expertise. You’ll be supervised by a physician, nurse, or health services professional and learn the billing and coding process from the working perspective.

  • Medical Assistant

    If you enjoy helping people, become a medical assistant. Every day, medical assistants improve the lives of those around them by providing critical medical and administrative duties in doctors’ offices, hospitals, and more.

    Meridian College offers hands-on medical assistant training that will prepare you for every part of the career, from supporting doctors with patients to completing administrative tasks.

    In addition to receiving training from instructors with real-world experience, you will complete a supervised externship in a physician’s office, clinic, or related healthcare facility to further develop your skills.

    Your medical assistant training will focus on:

    • Examination room procedures
    • Obtaining vital signs and medical histories
    • Performing routine laboratory procedures
    • Sterilizing and maintaining equipment
    • Proper techniques for administering medications as directed by a physician
    • Various administrative duties

    After you complete the associate degree program, you will have the skills necessary to work as the following, among other positions:

    • ECG technician
    • Hospital ward clerk
    • Doctor’s office medical assistant
    • Hospital admissions assistant
    • Chiropractic assistant

    Graduates of the program are also eligible to take a certification test to become a registered medical assistant (RMA).
