About Berks Technical Institute

Berks Technical Institute was originally established in February 1982 when the Lehigh Data Processing Institute received its license from the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools to provide training in data processing. In January 1984, Lehigh Data Processing Institute was granted accreditation by the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATTS), which today is known as the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).

In May 1987, the Institute was privately purchased, and in 1990 changed its name to Berks Technical Institute. In May 1992, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) accredited the Medical Assisting program upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

In July 1996, the Institute was relocated to a 34,000 square foot facility at 2205 Ridgewood Road, Wyomissing. In April 1999, a technology wing was added that increased the facility to almost 50,000 square feet, and parking was expanded to accommodate over 600 cars. In May 2000, Berks Technical Institute was acquired by MC Education, Inc.

In March 2008, Berks Technical Institute was acquired by Delta Career Education Corporation.

In 2010, the facilities were expanded to 63,500 square feet and parking was expanded to 650 cars.

Medical Assisting Program

Are you a people person with an interest in medicine? Do you want to enter the medical field without having to spend years in school? If so, you might be an excellent candidate for our Medical Assisting program. You can learn to be a Medical Assistant at our campus located near the Reading, Wyomissing, Birdsboro and Lititz areas.

BTI's Medical Assisting classes include hands-on training with equipment you'll use in the field. Our instructors have years of experience and are able to offer valuable, real-world insight to help you learn the skills you'll need for a successful and satisfying career.

Students in this program will learn how the human body's various systems work as well as techniques for administering common tests such as pulmonary function and urinalysis. They also learn front office administrative skills to make them well-rounded candidates who are ready to enter the field upon program completion.
