Become a licensed medical social worker in Maryland
Licensed Bachelor Social Worker
You must graduate with a bachelor's degree from an accredited social work program. You have to complete the application for the LBSW and LGSW exam, include the fee payment and all the required documentation. Take the ASWB. To pass, you must answer 96-105 answers correctly out of the 170. Once you've passed, pay the fee to receive your license. Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW)

At this stage, you must have your master's degree in social work from an accredited program along with some work experience.
You must complete 104 weeks or 3,000 hours of supervised clinical work dealing directly with clients. This must include 100 hours of face-to-face supervision under a contract. After you've completed the experience requirements, you can apply online for the LCSW and LCSW-C exam. You must include the required documentation and fee payments. Once your application has been approved, you can take the ASWB advanced generalist exam. You must answer 96-105 of the 170 questions correctly. When you've passed the exam, you have to pay the fee and you'll receive your license to practice. Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C)
You must have a master's degree in social work from an accredited program, and have accumulated the required work experience.
You must complete 2 years or 3,000 hours of LCSW-C supervised clinical work, with 1,500 being direct client contact and 144 hours of supervised face-to-face contract social work. You must complete 12 credit hours of clinical coursework from an accredited program. Once you've fulfilled the experience and school requirements, you can complete the LCSW and LCSW-C exam application. Include the fee payment and required documentation. Once your application has been approved, you can take the ASWB clinical exam. You must answer 96-105 of the 170 questions correctly. When you've passed the exam, you have to pay the fee and you'll receive your license to practice. You must renew your license every two years by October 31st.
You must complete 40 hours of continuing education, or 30 hours for LBSWs.
