Become a licensed medical social worker in New Mexico.
Licensed Bachelor's of Social Work (LBSW)
You must complete your BSW from an accredited program. This is an entry level designation allowing you to work under the supervision of a master's level social worker.
Complete your application, submit all the required documents, and include your fee payment. You must take the New Mexico Jurisprudence exam and pass with a 70 percent. You have up to 12 months from receiving your provisional license to schedule and take the ASWB bachelor's exam. You must pass the ASWB bachelor's exam by getting 96-105 of the 170 questions correct. You must take the New Mexico cultures course if you haven't taken it already. Once you've fulfilled the requirements of all the above steps, you will get your LBSW license. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
You must first get your MSW from an accredited program. And, you must work under the supervision of an LCSW/LISW.
Complete your application, submit all the required documents, and include your fee payment. You must take the New Mexico Jurisprudence exam and pass with a 70 percent. You have up to 12 months from receiving your provisional license to schedule and take the ASWB bachelor's exam. You must pass the ASWB master's exam by getting 96-105 of the 170 questions correct. Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker (LCSW)/Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
Under these two licensing designations, you are permitted to work unsupervised.
You must complete 3,600 hours of supervised postgraduate work experience in a minimum of 2 years, with 90 hours of documented supervision. Complete your application, submit all the required documents, and include your fee payment. You have to schedule and take the ASWB advanced generalist or clinical exam. You must pass the ASWB exam by getting 96-105 of the 170 questions correct. Once you've fulfilled the requirements of all the above steps, you will get your LISW/LCSW license. You must renew your license every year by July 1st.

You must complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
